About Bywater
Bywater is in the Ninth Ward, bounded by Florida Avenue, the Industrial Canal, the Mississippi River and the railroad tracks along Homer Plessy Way. Part or all of it is in the Bywater Historic District.
Slightly higher ground near the river kept it dry after Hurricane Katrina, part of what became known as the Sliver by the River. On Mardi Gras morning the Society of Saint Anne starts its walking parade here.
